Terms of use
Last updated 22 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Lutece Labs Ltd (“Finlay”, “we”) when you use the Finlay app. By creating an account you agree to them, so please read them. How we handle your personal data is in our privacy notice.
The short version
- Finlay is for people aged 18 or over who live in the UK, for their own personal use.
- Finlay gives information, not financial advice. It compares providers’ published offers with what you share and estimates what they’re worth to you. You decide what to do, and providers decide who qualifies.
- Finlay can only look at your money, never move it. When you take an offer, your agreement is with the provider, and we may earn a commission, which never changes the order we show offers in.
- You can delete your account at any time, in the app.
- We’ll give you two months’ notice before changing these terms in a way that affects you.
Who we are
Finlay is run by Lutece Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 17518209), whose registered office is 4th Floor, Silverstream House, 45 Fitzroy Street, London, W1T 6EB. You can reach us at hello@meetfinlay.com.
Who can use Finlay
- You must be 18 or over and live in the UK.
- Finlay is for your own personal use. Don’t use it for a business, or to manage someone else’s money unless they’ve asked you to and it’s theirs to share.
- One account per person. Keep access to your email and phone secure, since that’s how you sign in.
What Finlay does, and doesn't do
Finlay looks at the information you give it, such as your transactions, the products you hold and your circumstances, and compares it with offers that providers publish: current accounts, savings accounts, perks, bills and similar. It tells you which offers you look eligible for and estimates what they’re worth to you.
It's information, not advice
Finlay doesn’t give regulated financial advice. It doesn’t check whether a product is suitable for you, and it doesn’t make personal recommendations about investments, pensions, borrowing or insurance. The decision to take any offer is yours. If you need advice, speak to a qualified, regulated adviser.
Figures are estimates
The amounts Finlay shows come from our own calculations, based on what you’ve shared and the terms providers publish. They’re estimates: providers change their offers, apply their own criteria and decide who qualifies. Always check the provider’s own terms before you apply.
Chat is written by AI
Finlay’s chat replies are written by AI. They can be wrong or out of date, so check anything important. Figures in chat come from our calculations, not from the AI.
Your bank data
- For now you add your transactions by uploading statements you download from your bank yourself. Only upload statements that are yours, or that you have the account holder’s permission to share.
- Connecting a bank directly is coming soon. It will be read-only and go through a regulated open banking partner, and we’ll ask for your consent, and update these terms and our privacy notice, before you can use it.
- Finlay never asks for your bank login, password or security details, and never moves money.
Offers, providers and how we're paid
- When you tap through to an offer, you leave Finlay. Any product you take out is an agreement between you and the provider, on their terms. We’re not responsible for their products, their decisions or their service.
- We may earn a commission when you take an offer through a link in Finlay. We say so next to the offer, and it never changes the order in which we show offers.
- We don’t send providers anything about you when you tap through.
Plans and paying
- Finlay is free to use, with monthly limits on some features, such as chat messages and files. The app shows what’s left. We may change the limits, and we’ll tell you in the app first.
- If we offer a paid plan, it’s bought through the App Store or Google Play. They take the payment, and their terms cover billing, renewals and refunds. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings. Deleting your Finlay account cancels a Google Play subscription’s renewal, but only you can cancel an App Store one, so cancel it there first.
- On iPhone, Apple’s standard licence for apps from the App Store also applies. If it conflicts with these terms, these terms apply, except where Apple’s rules say otherwise.
Using Finlay properly
Please don’t:
- use Finlay for anything unlawful, or to mislead or harm anyone;
- upload anything you don’t have the right to share, or anything harmful such as malware;
- use bots, scripts or other automated means to access Finlay, copy its offers or data, or get around its limits;
- try to break, overload or get around Finlay’s security, or copy or take apart the app;
- abuse the chat, or try to make it produce harmful content.
Your content and ours
What you add to Finlay (statements, messages, files) stays yours. You let us use it to run Finlay for you, as our privacy notice explains. The app, its design, its offer data and its content belong to us or the people we license them from. You can use them through Finlay for your own personal use.
Changes to Finlay
We’re always improving Finlay, so features will change, and we may add, change or remove them. If we remove something important to how you use Finlay, we’ll tell you in advance where we can.
Ending your use of Finlay
- You can stop using Finlay and delete your account at any time, under You → Account → Delete account. What happens to your data is in our privacy notice.
- We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must by law, or to protect you, other people or Finlay. We’ll tell you why, and give you notice where we can. If we stop running Finlay altogether, we’ll give you at least two months’ notice.
Our responsibility to you
- We’ll run Finlay with reasonable care and skill.
- We’re responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or not using reasonable care and skill. We’re not responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable, for business losses, or for decisions and products of providers.
- Because Finlay gives information, not advice, we’re not responsible for a financial decision you make without checking the provider’s own terms, unless we were careless in what we told you.
- Except as below, our total responsibility to you is limited to the greater of £100 and what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
- Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we’ll tell you by email and in the app at least two months before the change applies. If you don’t agree, you can delete your account before then. We may make changes sooner where the law requires it, or where the change only makes the terms clearer or better for you.
Complaints
If something’s gone wrong, email hello@meetfinlay.com with what happened and what you’d like us to do. We’ll reply within five working days and aim to resolve it within eight weeks. If we can’t agree, you can take the matter to court (below).
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts. If a court decides part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. No one else has rights under these terms.
